Andrew Moskos is a co-founder and co-owner of Boom Chicago, the comedy institution in Amsterdam. With Pep Rosenfeld and Saskia Maas, they also created Boom Chicago for Business to focus on humor and message communication in the corporate world.

He is always on a quest for what is better, and he can see every side to an argument. His favorite influences are Barack Obama, Urbanist Jane Jacobs, Centrist Bill Maher and the Economist.

Andrew hosts international conferences like Brand Minds, the biggest business event in Central and Eastern Europe and DPW Amsterdam, the world’s biggest procurement tech event. For companies, Andrew hosted Tata Steel’s 100-year Anniversary, InterGEO in Stuttgart, IFS World Vodafone’s Global Strategy Event in London, OnBrand (the marketing conference), Revolution (for mobility and electric vehicles), and KPMG Yalla Tax Middle East in Dubai.
Andrew works on high stakes corporate events for most major companies in the Netherlands. Yes, ‘most’ as in a majority of them. It would be easier to list the companies he hasn’t worked with. He even coached Prime Minister Mark Rutte and co-wrote his ‘most successful speech ever,’ for the Dutch Correspondents Dinner.

Having risen roughly to the middle of Chicago’s cutthroat comedy scene, Andrew Moskos and Pep Rosenfeld decamped the Midwest for Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1993 to start their own improv comedy troupe, Boom Chicago. In a foreign land with zero tradition of English-language humor, Moskos and Rosenfeld unwittingly created the finishing school for some of today’s most groundbreaking comedic talents. They (along with coauthors Matt Diehl and Saskia Maas) document this journey in the definitive oral history Boom Chicago Presents the 30 Most Important Years in Dutch History.
From its stages, Boom Chicago went on to launch cultural game changers like Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Amber Ruffin, Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Ike Barinholtz, Kay Cannon, and Tami Sagher (and that’s just a partial list). At Boom, these young upstarts honed their craft in front of unsuspecting foreign audiences and visiting dignitaries— all while navigating a world with legal weed and prostitution, annual holiday celebrations involving blackface, cookies with weird racist names, and football that has nothing to do with the NFL. From this culture shock, this collective created a more topical, inclusive, tech-savvy humor that would become the dominant comedy style of our time.

In the mid 90s, inspired by the Blue Man Group, Andrew led the charge to incorporate video, live cameras, and live internet to Boom Chicago. In the years 2000-5, Boom Chicago was the most technologically advanced comedy show in the world.
To this date, Boom Chicago still makes world-class innovative improv games with a message and audience involvement. The shows Andrew has produced and directed remain some of the best reviewed and audience appreciated show in our history. From ‘Europe’ and the introduction of the euro, to social media (Me, MySpace and iPod, Upgrade or Die), technology and its impact on modern life the Metaverse, 90s Sitcoms. He is proud of His Show The Seven Deadly Dutch Sins which will be rebooted in 2026.
Tech in the shows

TV and Internet Success
Andrew led the push into TV and internet content in the mid 2000s. He produced Comedy Central News (CCN), the 2007-8 Comedy Central hit. For two years it was the biggest show on Comedy Central Netherlands. Of course the biggest show on the 10th biggest network in a small country isn’t quite as impressive as it sounds. Ultimately, South Park got similar numbers with zero additional production costs and we were cancelled for year three after more than 75 episodes.
Boom Chicago created original online content, including The Unlikely Fan, Brendan Hunt’s online series about football which cemented the love that would go on to develop Ted Lasso later. Andrew also produced (Matt Chapman’s) SpongeBob SquarePants in China which is still the Netherland’s biggest comedy viral video with 110 million views.
The Chicago Social Club and Comedy Embassy
Boom Chicago seizes business opportunities for (smart) expansion. Realizing we were not capitalizing on our valuable 5am license, in 2011, Andrew approached Casper Reinders (Jimmy Woo) and Pieter de Koning and Joris Bakker (Bitterzoet) to open The Chicago Social Club. The club continues as one of the most respected and successful clubs in the Netherlands.
Already successful with sketch and improv comedy, Boom Chicago did not have the same reputation in Stand up Comedy. When The struggling Comedy Embassy became available, Andrew bought it and helped grow it to become the biggest English language stand up nights in Amsterdam that it is today.
